We are entering what will be one of the most challenging periods that our school system has ever faced and the future of public education is at stake. I'm ready to work with you to lead our school system and our community through this difficult moment together.

Behavior/ Special Needs:  

 

Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), Individualized Education Program (IEP), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), Behavior Development Program (BDP)

 

Examine what is already in place and work with with school administrators, health department, SROs, and parents to fill any gaps.

 

Communication:

 

Open and honest communications are important to foster trust.  I would lobby to establish a program that would send a survey, of no more than 3 or 4 questions, that would go home to parents in the first week of school.  The intent would be to establish open lines of communication early between teachers and parents.  Sample questions: 

 

 

  • Is your family new to the area?

  • What would you like for me to know about your student?

  • What’s your child’s learning language (soft, loud, visual, interactive)?

  • What are your expectations of me as a teacher?

  • What’s your child's favorite activity?

  • What’s his/her favorite color?

  • What makes him/her happy?
